Graham studied art and design at Bournemouth and Poole School of Art and Design, (now part of Bournemouth University ), in his home city, and at St Martin’s School of Art in London.
He was also trained in exhibition design in Bournemouth and London specialising in furniture and fine china in London’s West End, and later in Wellington.
Exhibitions include community arts projects and galleries in Bournemouth, London, Lincoln UK, and Wellington NZ.
In 2017 Graham initiated and curated a successful art show at St Peter’s In Wellington called ‘Stations’ in which members of three community arts projects in Wellington, alongside individual artists, and poets, were enabled to interpret in art their reflections on the Station of The Cross.
“My art is purely abstract influenced by nature’s textures, and sometimes by the unusual surfaces of modern architecture and basic building materials. I like to experiment with different dry waxes and oils, natural and synthetic, to create textures and surfaces, and sometimes images, that are a little outside the box. Occasionally I will use oil or acrylic paint, but I prefer to work with ink, finding what will happen when it meets wax and water. Working on different surfaces is a challenge, from boards to handmade tissues to Japanese silk papers.”
