Welcome to St Peter's

Generosity at the Supermarket

Late on Thursday afternoon I was in the supermarket doing my weekly grocery shopping. While waiting at the check-out I watched a young man with what I think was a number of Easter eggs in a small box. I couldn’t hear the conversation between the check-out operator and the man. Suddenly and unexpectedly a man from the next aisle (I am not certain just where he came from, he just came) said “I’ll get that”. He reached over (from a safe distance) swiped his card in the machine and paid for the young man’s shopping with a broad smile on his face.

I watched all of this with singing in my heart. Wow! I thought, that interaction was great to see. While we might all be in isolation bubbles, generosity and gratitude abound. Although unable to touch each other we can smile, speak and use important non verbal cues to express emotion.

Expect to see the love of God through the work of others in new and exciting ways. Now we have the time to take note, to use all our senses (well, perhaps not to touch in the way we used to).

I hope you are taking the opportunities, as I am, to connect through the church services available by Live Stream or some other medium. God can reach us anywhere by any means if we are just tuned in using our senses. Be ready for the unexpected this Easter season.

Let each of us be generous and show gratitude in our own new ways, as individuals, family, community and as a nation.

All our problems
we send to the cross of Christ.

All our difficulties
we send to the cross of Christ.

All the devil’s works
we send to the cross of Christ.

All our hopes
we set on the risen Christ;

and may the God almighty,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
be among us and remain with us always.
Amen.

Go now to love and serve the (risen) Lord.
Go in peace. Alleluia! Alleluia!
Amen. We go in the name of Christ. Alleluia! Alleluia!

Keep safe and well in your bubble.

Yours in Christ.
