As part of the customs in our church, the altar frontals, ribbons in the Bible on the lectern and the hanging on the pulpit are changed according to the season of the church or the celebration that is taking place. Faye Davenport has provided a handy guide to what colour is used and when. Keep this guide handy and you will understand when there is a change to the colours.
At the moment, the church is in Ordinary time so the colour is green. However, on Ash Wednesday and for the period of Lent, the colour will be purple. The only exception to this is on Palm Sunday when the colour is red. On Easter Day there is rejoicing with the beautiful white and gold frontal to celebrate this great day. Hopefully this guide will prove useful to know why a certain colour is being used.
