At our services this morning, notice was given by our Wardens on behalf of Bishops Justin and Ellie, the Parish Nominators and the Diocesan Board of Nomination that the Rev’d Stuart Goodin, currently Vicar of Whanganui, is to become the next Vicar of the parish of St Peter’s Palmerston North.
Stuart has been in Whanganui since 2012. That parish has been delighting in a new season of growth and fruitfulness, with Stuart enjoying overseeing a talented and diverse team. Since 2015 Stuart has also been Archdeacon for the wider region. It has just been announced that with the changes in archdeacon roles he will take up the new advisory role of Bishop’s Chaplain in the North. Prior to moving to Whanganui, Stuart was self-supporting Priest Assistant in the parish of Tawa.
Stuart’s wife Christine has also contributed a great deal to the life of Whanganui parish and region, exercising wise leadership and committed service in her own right.
Together, they are sad to be leaving at this exciting time for Whanganui, but they believe that it is time to make room for the next season of leadership that will continue to take Whanganui forward and believe that God has called them both to a new adventure in Palmerston North.
Stuart and Christine are about to take a three month sabbatical. They will start in St Peter’s sometime in April 2020 (the exact date will be advised in due course).
We will keep you posted about further developments.
Please keep Stuart and Christine and the Parish of Whanganui in your payers as they adjust to these changes.
