Welcome to St Peter's

Sunday 11 June - Worship

Hello everyone

This Sunday 14th we return to having

communion available in both kinds,
the passing of the peace,
no physical distancing requirements,
and morning tea following the 10:00am service.

This decision is based on the Government’s move to Alert Level 1, which is predicated on there being no cases of Covid19 and no community transmission within New Zealand borders.

The wider community is now interacting without limitation, and there is no reason why the church should operate more restrictively.

The Government’s Level 1 Health Advice should be adhered to.

We will be posting QR Code posters at entrances to assist contact tracing. We will no longer be keeping a record of who attends. Hand sanitiser will continue to be available in the porch.

We all need to remember that human interaction involves germs transmitted in all manner of ways – not just during Covid19. But what we are saying is that the measures specific to Covid19 are no longer needed.

We recognise that some will remain anxious, some necessarily cautious because of underlying heath conditions.

We encourage you to prayerfully and reflectively make your own decision.

If you don’t wish to shake hands at the peace, we respect that.

If you don’t feel you can take communion, or only wish to receive it in one kind (the bread only), we respect that.

The option of spiritual communion – receiving the benefits of communion through prayer rather than through consumption of the elements – remains a valid option.

We will continue to provide our online Sunday worship resources on the website, including the sermon.

It is particularly appropriate that I am able to make this announcement today, the Feast of Corpus Christi (Thanksgiving for Holy Communion). It will be with great joy that we can again celebrate communion in full this Sunday.

Glorious and loving God,
in the midst of winter, you call us to your banquet.
In a world of cold and darkness your living bread warms and restores us, nourishes us and makes us your body.
Through this sacrament, empower us to be your living presence in a world which yearns for your light and warmth.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen

Grace and peace,
