St Peter's values the rich tradition of our Anglican heritage. Services are based on A New Zealand Prayer Book, or the older Book of Common Prayer (BCP).
A service of Holy Communion taken from the Book of Common Prayer. This is a quiet service, normally without hymns, except for special times in the Church Year such as Christmas and Easter. Eucharistic liturgies from A New Zealand Prayer Book are used once a month.
Eucharistic liturgies are used in rotation from A New Zealand Prayer Book to ensure a richness and variety in worship. Music is important in this service and we are fortunate to have a team of competent and dedicated organists to ensure its enduring quality. A small but dedicated choir enhances the liturgy once and month and larger choirs feature at significant times during the Liturgical Year, especially Christmas, Easter and our Patronal Festival. There is a children's programme during term time and children also have their own special roles within the service.
Sometimes the Eucharist is replaced by special services - for example our annual and very popular St Francis Animal Blessing Service where people are invited to bring their pets to be blessed. These are currently advertised on our Facebook page under Events or on our public noticeboard in front of our church.
